Let’s do the tighten up…oh yea

Ok…so we have a new favorite commercial and we have ALL been caught singing this song at some point throughout our stay here…Incase it isn’t clear, I’ve added the original site so you can check it out. Lets see if this gets stuck in your head!

Back to School

Ok, so, we have obviously started homeschooling this week. That would explain why I haven’t posted anything since last Wednesday! Teacher Mom and student Avery are really enjoying homeschooling. I know it is an adjustment for Avery, but he is doing great! We were waiting on a few textbooks to come in, so, we’ve slowly added subjects into our routine as the books have come in. I knew Ave was a smart boy, but it is really evident when I’m the one explaining things to him. He is such a treasure and joy to teach. We’ve already had some AWESOME experiences during “class”. I am so thankful to be here with him for this season. What a privilege! There are so many reasons we decided to homeschool this year and we are already seeing the benefits on so many levels. Katie Mae is doing great with this adjustment as well. Avery and I do a lot of our interactive work while Katie Mae is taking her 2 hour morning nap. Thank the Lord for such a good sleeper!

Rainy Day

Rainy Day 1Rainy Day 2It’s a rainy day here in Jonesboro! Which is good for the crops that we’ve seen around here, but makes for an interesting day for an active 8 yr old.

A Wii competition is scheduled during Katie Mae’s next nap and hopefully the rain will slack off enough for us to get out to the local farmers market to see what they have in store.

Avery has his 2nd night of VBS at the church we’re attending here. They have a movie activity for the children tomorrow during the day as well. What perfect timing for us to be here for their week of VBS! He’s having a ball and is already working hard on his memory verse for next Sunday.

John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

Ok, I’ve been reading natural recipes for mosquito repellent. These jokers are TERRIBLE here. No one else in the family seems to be bothered by them as much as I am. The first night we were here I believe I received 5 or 6 bites! It’s even difficult for me to sit at the pool while Avery swims. Apparently there are rice fields close by…that’s why they’re such a problem! We cannot use insect repellent on Katie Mae yet, so that’s why I’m going to try something natural so I do not have to worry about holding her when I’ve been sprayed down! I’ll keep ya posted!

we have arrived

We made itWe arrived in Arkansas last night. Katie Mae was a GREAT traveler. Avery always has been. It really was a great experience for us. There was major traffic as we crossed the Mississippi River. That’s the only time Katie Mae wasn’t a happy camper. We are SO tired today, but that’s to be expected. Katie Mae didn’t settle in too well during the night…but she did so great on the trip, I’m not going to complain! Our apartment is nice and has so many amenities that Avery (and the rest of us) will enjoy. I’m going to try to get acclimated to my surroundings today.
One of our stops was in Tupelo, Mississippi…Birthplace of Elvis…
I think Avery was just as excited to stretch his legs as he was about the sightseeing!
